"A familiar story of differing viewpoints between mother and child is presented in charmingly simple cumulative verse and rebuses. A young boy is packing for a trip to visit his grandmother. But then along comes mom with ideas of her own!....This is a real winner....Great fun."--School Library Journal.

More About The Bag I'm Taking to Grandma's
This book is great for a child who is beginning to read. The illustrations are great and in parts of the book, the words are replaced with pictures. This would seem to help the reader. The book is repetitive because it repeats "that I'll pack in the bag I'm taking to Grandma's" over and over again. Overall, this is a fun and cute book... This is a great read aloud book for kindergarten aged kids learning the difference between wants and needs. The boy packs what he thinks he needs for visiting his grandmas house; and then, his mother comes along with a differing perspective. There are several great activities online that go along with this book such as a blank suitcase... This book is an enjoyable one in the style of The House that Jack Built. It's a fun sing song to read aloud. Also, I love that the main character is very gender neutral. I remembered reading it to C when she was little - good memories.
