This book has a good story line but did not really take off for me.There were sections that just bored me to tears. I thought it was written in a rather simplistic way with no real depth or atmosphere. The characters did not seem to come alive at all. I was really surprised by this book, I have read other Alan Titchmarsh books but this one was totally different I would definately say it is worth a read. This is the story of Harry who has a failed marriage and his job is not fulfulling anymore and he realises that he has to change his life. It also is the story of Anne who in 1816... Alternating between 1816 and 2010, I initially knew the connection but couldn't quite grasp its significance until the two worlds collided at the very last chapter. Done without elements of fantasy and science fiction, this novel weaves two timelines in breathtaking language and pace with just a touch of comprehension.
