The book is popular because it appeals to a good idea of trying to define one's purpose in life. Yet the author does not exegete Scripture well or harmonize Scripture as well. In the end, if followed, will hinder rather than help the believer. Interesting to read with how dated this now is and how much Warren's "purpose" ideas have been discussed. This book is neither as terrible as naysayers say nor as profound as those who fawn over it say. Mostly it's some good, basic principles that are overwritten. Warren's too talky and I think this is where he gets into trouble with...
